The SL230 is a gentle, low-seat dual-sport single using an air-cooled 223 cc engine with electric start and a six-speed gearbox. It was pitched at newer or shorter riders who wanted a friendly trail bike rather than a competition machine, so its suspension and brakes are softer and simpler than those of the XR250, while its quiet exhaust and easy manners suited commuting and light trail work.
